Social media marketing is a constantly changing and evolving art form. What currently works on one social media channel such as YouTube or Twitter may or may not work on Facebook. What works on Facebook may or may not work on the other social media platforms, and so that means there is a constant testing and measuring going on. You get something to work on twitter, can you get it to work on your other online locations where you are marketing. So there is a constant learning curve going on about how to get the most out of your post, your tweets your videos and also your Facebook marketing. In this articles I will focus on Facebook advertising and talk about three things in particular that will improve your efforts and help you to get the best out of it.
It is Imperative That You Advertise
Facebook ads allow you to connect with your prospects in a way that is just not possible on other advertising platforms. The amount of data Facebook hold about its users is vast. The advantage here for advertisers is that it allows you to micro target an audience – brilliant! If you have done your research and know exactly who your target market is then the Facebook ad platform gives you the ability to reach them. Also, if you have been using Facebook to market your business you will probably have noticed that the “Reach” of the content you are posting is getting smaller and smaller. As it currently stands, about 95% of the audience you already have will not see your posts or content on Facebook.
So weather you like it or not you will need to advertise if you want to reach larger numbers of people with your message. The bottom line is that if you wish to use Facebook as an effective advertising platform then you are going to have to begin spending some money on Facebook advertising.
How Often Should You Post To Facebook?
There are many theories about how often you should post on Facebook. Are you posting too often or are you posting too infrequently. Someone might tell you that eight times a day is too often to post but that once a week is not often enough, you can be left wondering, well what is the right number? What is the happy medium or the sweet spot.
It does not matter if you are posting text, photo, video or a combination there is a ratio that should accompany the number of posts. Some researchers have said that after your first post of the day, the reach continues to decline. Others have shown that 5 to 10 posts a week is adequate, while still others say that you should be posting 5 posts a day. So what’s the answer?
That’s a good question and without knowing how Facebook’s algorithm works it’s probably impossible to say for sure. However there is one thing that is fact. If you want maximum exposure for your content on Facebook you need to be advertising. Because by using Facebook ads you not alone are increasing your reach but you can also control where you are sending your visitors. When you set up your ads you control where your visitors are clicking and then where they are landing. Which will be exactly where you want them to go. As for the number of posts per day that really relies on who your audience is and what they want.
Post Your Facebook Ads During Peak Times
You can review your Facebook analytics or use one of the after market social media marketing tools to determine just when your peak activity occurs. However, you do have to remember that the organic reach only applies to a small audience percentage. You should also not completely eliminate off peak time. For example, your middle of the night post or Facebook ad, has less overall audience, but it also has less activity so it’s much more likely to be seen.
There you go – these 3 things when implemented can help to improve your Facebook ad campaign and make it more successful.
