4 Steps You Need to Set Up a Professional Social Media Page
On 24th June 2022 | 0 Comments | Marketing, small business, Social Media Marketing |

1. Select a Consistent and Good Username

You need to make sure that you select a username that reflects your business and its identity and one that you can use consistently across all social media platforms. It’s important to have the same username across all platforms so that people can find you easier. Be consistent.

Tip: A free tool like namecheckr can allow you to check which usernames are free across all platforms so you don’t have to check manually on every platform. This makes the process easier.

2. Create Accounts On All Platforms

Once you have your username that your audience will associate with your brand, create an account on a range of platforms. Even if you only plan on using one account for right now, it’s good to create your accounts on a range of platforms so that you can reserve your username. It also allows you to build advocates that can mention you or tag you even if the platform isn’t active.

3. Personalise Your Accounts

  1. Add a profile picture: your profile picture should be your brands logo and should be the same on every account so that people can recognise you. Make it professional and consistent.
  2. Choose a professional background image: upload a high quality cover image which is relevant to your brand. You have the option here to use different cover pictures for different platforms as long as they are all professional.
  3. Create a compelling bio: tell the visitors to your page who you are and what you do. Your bio should sell yourself in just a few words or highlight what you have to offer.
  4. Pin your best content: make sure your best work is easy to find by pinning a post. This makes it the first thing that people see when they visit your account.

4. Have a Consistent (and Realistic) Content Strategy

You don’t need to be active on every social media site all at once. Focus on a few or just one which is the most relevant to your business or brand at first, then you can build the others as time goes on.

Having a good social media profile is nothing without effective and purposeful content. Make sure that you are being tactful with the information that you are sharing, create a space where people can come to learn and also avail of your services. Remember to ask yourself the question “what can I do for the customer?” and “how is this helping the customer?”and let this be reflected in your content. The final thing is to make sure you are distributing content consistently. You can do this by using a content calendar and having your content planned in advance. In a world of social media and online marketing, it is absolutely vital that your business is engaged and up to date with these trends in order to succeed.

These are some of the steps you need to get started, however social media can be used in many different ways to promote your brand and build your business.
